About the Artist
Debra Schaumberg is an American professional artist who started selling art in a gallery when she was 12 years old. She has studied traditional drawing and painting techniques and has adapted these into her own unique style.
You can immediately feel that there is something very different about Debra’s work.
These are no mechanistic or gimmicky commodities but real and deep art, spiritually and emotionally arising from the soul of the artist. Her energetic and emotionally touching oil paintings incorporate both representational and abstract elements in a method that has foundational qualities rooted in selected core concepts underpinning both impressionism and expressionism. The paintings lead us away from our hectic daily routine.
With her creativity, Debra presents us long-lasting, blessed moments of inner silence and satisfaction, letting us breath deep, within a time so much dominated by the oppression of Chronos and technocracy.
Her recent work is accomplished with a palette knife and is a representational translation of the interaction of the energy emanating from the world around her with her deepest inner self.
Of note, Debra also has achieved a global reputation for her scientific work at Harvard on prevention of blindness. Debra holds 3 advanced degrees including from Johns Hopkins and Harvard Universities.
Her artistic affiliations include: Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, Plein Air Artists, Newton Open Studios, Cambridge Art Association
Debra has exhibited her work in over 25 shows, including national juried competitions such as the Annual National Juried Exhibition of the American Impressionist Society.
Selected pieces of original work are available at Dwell Fine Art, Washington, VA.
Over 150 of Debra's original oil paintings hang in collections across the US, Europe and Asia
